Led by Julian Brown, 8.2 Aarufield has a catalogue of industry leading colleagues and associates each bringing specific and unparalleled knowledge on their subject. 8.2 Aarufield aims to reduce overall renewables project costs for investors and developers by bringing this specific knowledge and identifying routes to reduce risk, improve contracting and ensure renewables technology is delivered according to specification and programme.
“8.2 Aarufield aims to focus on ensuring developers and investors meet their targets, both in terms of return on investment and in technical performance. The team of colleagues and associates bring knowledge which can help guide investors to find clearer strategies, ensure that developers see their projects delivered to schedule using equipment which is reliable and provide project supply chain with the ability to look deeper into their capabilities and processes to ensure their deliveries to projects is second to none”
Julian brings a wealth of experience from the renewables industry in the UK. His former roles include UK Director of AREVA Wind, a founding partner of the globally respected renewables consultancy BVG Associates, and Managing Director of Vestas Blades (formerly NEG Micon Rotors) which was the largest renewables manufacturing supply chain employer in the UK during his employment. Julian is currently Chairman of the Board for RenewableUK and the North Sea renewables group, Norstec.
Andrew Bellamy brings nearly 20 years of experience in design and manufacturing of wind turbine components to 8.2 Aarufield. His experience in international markets is extensive, having developed and led manufacturing and production in Canada, Brazil, India, China, Portugal and Germany. Having cut his teeth in rotorblade design at Aerolaminates/NEG Micon, Andrew moved to major Tier 1 supply chain for onshore wind in the USA, working on major projects with GE Energy and Suzlon. He worked extensively in India and China bringing new production capabilities for REpower (now Senvion) and others before returning to Germany to develop the optimised manufacturing setup for the (then) joint REpower-Suzlon organisation. Andrew moved to AREVA in 2011 as part of the UK business development team, responsible for industrial and supply chain development in the UK market – whilst maintaining a role as Project Lead for the 8MW rotor.
” 8.2 Aarufield has been established to bring expertise in key areas of renewables – development, contracting and manufacturing. Renewables; especially onshore and offshore wind; have seen their importance in energy mix globally increase steadily over recent years. From a cost perspective, these projects have also become significantly less expensive to install and operate. Despite this, a major part of the project cost is contingency risks identified through areas where costs could overrun or technology could require repair/replacement. 8.2 Aarufield bring experience to be able to support and monitor critical elements in project supply to try and reduce the risk contingency – and therefore the overall project costs leading to a stronger return on investment”
